The Blog Fort

When you pick a domain name for a website, you need to be careful that there are not unexpected words that can be made out of the phrase you choose. When selecting the url for this site, we realized that changing the spacing of the letters for “Blog For The Girls” could have the phrase starting with “Blog Forth” - which could be considered a command to write, or “Blog Fort” - which had me picturing myself in a treehouse in the backyard with my laptop. We joked that “Blog Fort” could be the name of the room where I tend to do my writing. I put a little cardboard sign up over the door for laughs, and didn’t think much more about it.
Months later, when another member of the household was looking for me, I called out, “I’m in the Blog Fort.” Something in the part of my brain that loves a parody overlapped the phrase with the song “Under the Boardwalk” made famous by The Drifters back in 1964. Here is the result:
Oh, when the pressure’s on
and you feel like you may hit the roof
And all your chores pile up,
you wish they’d disappear
with just a poof
Into the Blog Fort,
that’s where I flee, yeah
With my pencil and my paper,
is where I’ll be
