The Dog Ate My Homework!

“The dog ate my homework!”

Dear readers, did you ever use that excuse for not turning in an assignment? Last week I encouraged you to start writing your own story. It wasn’t really a homework assignment, but I wonder how many of you chose to accept the challenge. You may have wanted to, but writing takes time! How do we get more time? The simple answer is… we don’t! We have to decide to use our hours and minutes differently.

I’ve received reports that the bundle of energy pictured above has definitely eaten up a lot of time in the lives of his new companions. They have willingly made adjustments in their lifestyle for the joy of having him in their household.

Any new task we take on requires a change in our schedule; learning a new language, starting an exercise program, or receiving medical treatment - all of these take time. If you decide you to add writing to your life, you will need to choose to take time away from another activity.

Be careful, though, where you leave your writing materials. It would be a shame if you put the effort in and then the dog really did eat your homework!
