For the Guys
Yes, this blog is For the Girls, but we don’t exist in a vacuum, so this post on Father’s Day is For the Guys.
Very few men are likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer, although it is possible. Most men will encounter it in some form at some time in their lives. It may be as insignificant to them as noticing that their favorite sports teams are sporting pink in October. It may hit as close to home as having someone near and dear to them being diagnosed. As my post “Statistics and Stories” showed, they are surrounded by it, whether they are aware of it or not.
I want to thank the guys who walk alongside us in our journey. Sometimes they give us encouraging words; sometimes there are just no words to say. Sometimes they just hold us while we cry, sometimes crying with us, sometimes saving their own tears for another time. They may be people we don’t really know, men who faithfully do their jobs in whatever aspect of the medical community to which they belong.
Who are the guys around you who have been affected by breast cancer? What are their stories?
