Books for the Girls: Gmorning, Gnight!
Those who know me know I love books and I enjoy telling people about my favorites. I plan to occasionally share about books that are relevant For the Girls.
I find this book to be my go-to for a little pick-me-up. It’s has nothing to do with cancer, yet has everything to do with it; sometimes simple tasks like facing the world or facing our self-doubt can be the biggest challenge of our day. This book is an easy read. You can race through the volume all at once, or savor each entry as a daily dose of encouragement.
The multi-talented Miranda pairs morning and evening greetings on related themes. He originally posted these thoughts on twitter, and admits that the encouraging things that he has written were things he wished he had been hearing at the time.
Now, as much as I love to hold a book in my hand, this is one of the times that I can make a strong argument for the audio version. In the print version the whimsical line drawings by Jonny Sun accompany each pairing. The audio version is read by the author, giving you the full effect of his inflections, pauses, and wisecracks.
There is also a Spanish version of the book: ¡Buen día, buenas noches! Palabras de ánimo para mí y para tí. In this case the audiobook is read by the author’s father, Luis A. Miranda Jr.
Print? Audio? Go for broke, get them both! Enjoy!
